So much depends on this bag of starburst in the rainbow shelves of the local shop.
He finds it miraculous that something so sweet and precious can be found in such an insignificant place.
Despite the electronic beeping and droning echoing through the shop he makes it to the cashier.
There is a short queue but it takes ages to pay.
When it finally is time to pay though he can barely stay awake.
His eyes sag and he sways on his feet.
He pokes his fingers into his wallet.
The pound coin is right there but he can't grip it due to his closing eyes.
So he props his eye open with thumb and forefinger and with the other hand he gives the coin to the cashier.
But his knees buckle and the floor warps and engulfs him.
He falls down into an indifferent blackness.
He may as well not be falling as there is no ground nor ceiling he is falling towards or away from.
There is no wind rustling through his clothes and hair.
He only feels the sensation of spinning.
His legs take up the space that his head occupied only moment earlier.
There is no defined end point to this nauseous ordeal.
